Creating a Character Concept

After acquainting yourself with the world of Dragon Age as outlined in this wiki, start fleshing out a character concept. Full character creation will occur later upon approval of the concept. The beginning of this campaign involves the characters assembling at Ostagar. The characters have been convinced by Duncan to join the Grey Wardens, either by choice or Conscription. Some questions to ask yourself follow:

  • What is your race and background?
  • What is your class?
  • How do you feel about the Chantry?
  • How do you feel about mages and magic?
  • Do you believe that a Blight is beginning?
  • Why have you left home to begin this adventure? How did you meet Duncan?
  • Are you voluntarily joining the Grey Wardens, or have you been Conscripted? Remember that Conscription of a truly unwilling candidate is rare.

Write your concept in a brief description, being sure to hit the points above. Remember that life is in the details: the more background experiences you give your character, the more you will shape this character’s personality—and the more likely the character will be chosen for inclusion. Don’t forget your character’s appearance! Pictures help the other players visualize your character, so consider finding a genre-appropriate photo of what you imagine your character looking like (concepts without pictures will still be considered). When complete, submit your concept for consideration.
